Within the framework of the "Improvement of the Electricity Network" and "Additional Financing of Power Supply Program" funded by the loan program of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) "Ashnak" 220/110/10 kV and "Vanadzor-1" 110/10/6 kV substations have been renovated. Renovation works are implemented by the Chinese "Xian Electric Engineering" company. In the scope of the program, it is planned to renew the current obsolete equipment at substations aimed to increase the reliability of the power supply network, minimize the number of emergency shutdowns due to equipment malfunction, reduce operating costs.
Within the framework of the "Additional Financing of the Power Supply Reliability" program support will be continued for the reconstruction of "Haghtanak", "Charencavan-3" and "Vanadzor-1" substations and import of the essential equipment. It is envisaged to reconstruct the 220 kV substation of Zovuni by the savings due to the international tenders and subcontracts carried out within the project. Having been in operation for 40 years or more, the substation has become obsolete and out of production with almost no possibility to obtain spare parts and repair.
Nearly $ 6.4 million of work has been accomplished within the program during the reporting period. In the scope of the "Improvement of power supply network" program construction and import of the required equipment has been realized for 220 kW "Ashnak" and 220 KW "Yerevan TPP" substations. Construction of Yerevan TPP Substation is finished and is already operating. Currently, the exclusion of deficiencies and acceptance of works are being executed. Reconstruction of "Ashnak" substation is planned to be completed in 2019. It is envisaged to reconstruct the 220 kV substation of "Ararat-2" by the savings which may result in international tenders and subcontracts carried out within the project. Having been in operation for 40 years and more, the substation has become obsolete, getting out of production with almost no possibility to obtain spare parts and repair.
The works for nearly $ 989K USD has been accomplished during the reporting period of which around USD 663K for "Ashnak" and around USD 326K for "Yerevan TPP" substations.
